Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
This policy explains what Warranty Insider does with your information when you use our website and complete one of our warranty quizzes. Please read it before you submit your details.
Who we are
Warranty Insider ("Warranty Insider", "we", "us", "our") is the brand behind the warranty quizzes on this site.
How to reach us. We are finalising the postal address and email address for privacy requests and will publish them in this policy before this site accepts live traffic. In the meantime, the fastest way to stop being contacted is to reply STOP to any text message, or to tell any caller to stop calling — we treat either as a request that covers every channel, and we pass it on to the provider we introduced you to.
We are a marketing and lead-generation service. We are not a warranty provider, insurer or administrator. We do not sell, issue, price or administer warranty contracts, and we do not decide whether you are eligible for coverage.
We are paid by the warranty companies we introduce you to. That is how this service is free to you. That compensation may affect which providers we present to you and the order in which we present them.
What we collect
You give us:
- First name, last name, email address and telephone number (the final step of each quiz).
- Your quiz answers — for example the type of property or vehicle, its make, model, year and mileage, what matters to you in coverage, and how soon you are looking to buy.
- ZIP code, on the home warranty quiz.
- Your consent decision: whether you ticked the consent box, the exact wording shown to you when you ticked it, and the time you ticked it.
We collect automatically:
- Marketing attribution from the link you arrived on: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term, and the fbclid / gclid click identifiers.
- Page path and referrer.
- Your IP address and browser user-agent string, recorded with your consent so we can evidence that consent later.
- Analytics and advertising identifiers — only if you accept cookies. See Cookies and tracking.
We do not ask for and do not want: government identifiers, financial account or card numbers, health information, or information about children. Our quizzes are not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Why we use it
- To match you with warranty providers and pass your enquiry to them.
- To let those providers contact you by phone, text and email about warranty coverage, where you have consented to that contact.
- To keep a record of your consent, so we and the provider can show what you agreed to, and to keep a record of any request you make to stop being contacted.
- To measure which adverts and quiz steps work (analytics — consent-gated).
- To detect and block automated form submissions.
- To comply with law and to respond to regulators.
Who we share it with, and the fact that this is a sale
We sell your information. Under California law and the comparable laws of other states, passing your details to a warranty company that pays us for them is a "sale" of personal information. We are telling you this plainly rather than hiding behind the word "share".
We disclose the categories of information described above to:
- The warranty providers we introduce you to, and their authorised marketing partners. They use your details for their own purposes, including contacting you, and they are separately responsible for what they do with them.
- Our technology suppliers, who process data on our instructions only: Cloudflare (hosting and edge delivery), PostHog (product analytics, EU cloud, consent-gated) and Meta (advertising pixels, consent-gated), plus the lead-delivery pipeline once it is live.
- Regulators, law enforcement and our professional advisers, where we are legally required to or where we need to defend a legal claim.
We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in the last 12 months except through the advertising pixels described in Cookies and tracking, which do not run unless you accept cookies.
We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16.
How long we keep it
- Consent records — the exact consent wording shown to you, the time, your IP address, your browser user-agent and the page you were on: 5 years from the later of the date we created the record and the date of the last call, text or email sent in reliance on it. We keep these because federal telemarketing rules require a 5-year record of consent, and because we may need to prove what you agreed to.
- Lead records — your contact details, quiz answers and attribution: 5 years, matching the consent record they belong to.
- Do-not-contact and opt-out requests: 5 years minimum, and we will keep your number on our internal do-not-contact list indefinitely unless you ask us to remove it.
- Analytics data: 14 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, where we got it, why we collected it, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
- Get a copy of it.
- Correct it.
- Delete it.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of it — see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
- Opt out of targeted advertising.
- Withdraw consent at any time, including consent to be called or texted.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We will not refuse you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
- Appeal a refusal, where your state gives you that right. Send us your appeal in writing with "Appeal" as the subject, and we will respond in writing.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in this policy. We will not make you create an account and we will not ask for more information than we need to find your record and confirm it is you. An authorised agent may act for you.
We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days, extendable once by a further 45 days if we tell you why.
If you ask us to stop contacting you, we will also pass that request on to the warranty providers we introduced you to, and we will stop selling your information. Those providers are then prohibited from selling or sharing it onward. Please note that we cannot make a provider you have separately signed a contract with stop contacting you about that contract — for that you will need to contact them directly, and we will give you their details.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information:
- Tell us. Send us a request marked "Do Not Sell" using the contact details in this policy; or
- Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. We treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request for that browser and device, and for any profile associated with it, including a profile that does not identify you by name. If a GPC signal conflicts with a setting you have previously given us, the GPC signal wins.
We will not ask you to create an account, and we will not ask for anything beyond what we need to action the request. Once you have opted out we will not ask you to opt back in for at least 12 months.
Opting out of sale is not the same as withdrawing consent to be contacted. If you want both, say so and we will do both.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies. Nothing other than strictly necessary technology runs until you accept cookies in our cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time using the Manage Cookies link at the bottom of every quiz page. If you decline, or if you make no choice at all, no analytics or advertising technology is loaded.
- Strictly necessary — cannot be switched off. Your cookie choice itself, stored in your browser under the name sf_cookie_consent; your quiz answers and form entries, held in your browser's session storage so a step you have completed is not lost.
- Marketing / advertising — only after you accept. Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which sets Meta cookies and reports page views and lead events to Meta so we can measure and target advertising; PostHog product analytics, which records which quiz steps were viewed and which answers were selected. Session replay is off.
- External media — only after you accept. Some result pages embed content from third-party providers, which may load fonts and other assets from external servers.
Because accepting marketing cookies allows information to be shared with advertising companies, accepting them is also a "share" of personal information under California law, and the opt-out routes in Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information apply to it.
If we email you, every commercial email will identify us, will carry our postal address, and will carry a working unsubscribe link. We will action an unsubscribe within 10 business days, and we will not sell or transfer the email address of anyone who has unsubscribed.
Automated form protection
Our forms carry a hidden field that a person never sees and never fills in. If it is completed we treat the submission as automated and discard it entirely — nothing is stored and nothing is passed on.
Security
We use HTTPS throughout, we keep lead data in access-controlled systems, and we limit who can see it to the people who need to. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise.
Children
Our quizzes are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 and we do not sell or share information we know belongs to anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If we start collecting a new category of information, or using what we already have for a materially different purpose, we will give you a fresh notice before we do it.
Contact
How to reach us. We are finalising the postal address and email address for privacy requests and will publish them in this policy before this site accepts live traffic. In the meantime, the fastest way to stop being contacted is to reply STOP to any text message, or to tell any caller to stop calling — we treat either as a request that covers every channel, and we pass it on to the provider we introduced you to.
